This machine might get overloaded during the semester so you should avoid it. For a list of Virtual Machines, see below. You can log into those via SSH or virtual desktops (probably especially useful for the Windows users among you).

Systems just now (Friday 8 September, evening) informed us of the availability of new Linux machines: linux-075.khoury.northeastern.edu, ..., linux-086.khoury.northeastern.edu, ... for all numbers between 75 and 86 (inclusive).
Using VDI for GUI apps on the Linux Cluster:
Systems just now (Friday 8 September, evening) informed us that the VDI machines are decommissioned as of this week.
The College supports remote access to a GUI environment on Linux via VDI Desktops. In principle, this page suffices but read the notes below to get directly to the point:
Your best option is to install the VM Horizon client.
Once you have the client, you can access the College’s Linux boxes, which temporarily makes your desktop act like a Linux desktop.
